A commission from last month- a silver mussel shell necklace, with the three layers moving gently over each other, reminiscent of the sea.

A very lovely and very personal piece I made for my oldest brother, for his very special birthday! He’s an avid reader (runs in the family!) and an all round good egg. The bookmark is made in brass and silver, patinated and with an emerald, the birthstone for May.
I had a lot of fun making this and it’s gone down well! Happy birthday Greg!

Some things on bench, on the way for a floral takeover window in @orielmakers for the @__________east gallery weekend.
I’m currently battling tennis elbow which is painful and entirely unrelated to tennis, and making it very difficult to get anything done! But here and there I’m creating some new shapes which have been living in my head for a long time- ready to bloom for the Roath Gallery Weekend!

A special custom commission which is one of the few I can show you, as it’s not a Xmas surprise! Loved making these, and love their little stars on the top of the tree! Fun fact- the baubles are a full stop punch, and the trunk is the letter I!

Some recycled silver cuffs fresh out of the tumble polisher, giving gorgeous shine!
These are now with the Assay office in Birmingham where they test and stamp the silver to identify it as sterling silver, and add my makers mark.
These will go up on the website and the gallery when they are back, priced at £90 each. Perfect gifts if you don’t want to guess a size, as they open to fit any size wrist!

Bangles and cuffs are on the bench this week- some for orders, some for Christmas stock. If you think you’d like a beautiful bangle or a Christmassy cuff made especially for you, get in touch!
Bracelets can take longer to produce than some other designs as they are heavier weights and need to be sent off to the Assay office for Hallmarking, which adds time to the order- so if you’re thinking of a bespoke bangle, bracelet or cuff, now is the time to order!
Swipe for inspiration of previous makes!
All recycled silver as always.

Work in the summer window of @orielmakers - I thought the reticulated texture of the silver suited the sea and sand theme, with its molten surface! Also some pretty shiva shell earrings and pendant on silver .
All recycled silver as ever!

I’m just starting to gently start back to work for a few hours here and there- the double knee op hit harder than I thought it would and although it all went well, my body went into inflammation overdrive and has made it a very drawn out recovery! It also meant I couldn’t sit at my bench to work, which has been super frustrating! I’ve been focussing on physiotherapy and rebuilding what I can do in normal daily life, and it’s been a lesson in patience for me- everything takes so much energy. I can’t praise my partner Tom enough for taking on everything while I’ve been out of action, he’s been a total legend looking after me! But I am rather sorry the breakfast in bed has come to an end.. 😂

For Roath Gallery Week @orielmakers have displayed selected work from the members in the window- here’s my work with some new stone set rings I managed to work on just before I had my knee op.
Nice to be able to show you new things even when laid up! I’m doing well just more slowly than I’d like, I’m having to learn patience… 😂

If you’re local, the gallery weekend is across 8 galleries in the Roath, Cardiff area and all are open with displays and events today and tomorrow! See @__________east for more info!

I had a lovely message from an old friend yesterday- saying it was their 10 year wedding anniversary and how much they still loved their rings I made for them- so I thought I would share them with you today while I’m still recuperating from my knee op and not able to make new lovely things to show you!

A’s engagement ring is emerald set in a silver swirl representing the initials A&J, and wedding band sits above this in gold, with a wee diamond. J’s ring is silver with a captive spinning band of gold.

(Luckily I have got a bit better at photography in the last 10 years too! 🤦‍♀️)

Happy 10th anniversary to a lovely pair! ❤️
